In response to Mr. Jaynes’ manifesto, I will respond that it typifies the four archetypes of neo-conservative propagandist drivel:
1. Distortion and misrepresentation of fact;
2. Ethical turpitude;
3. Magnification of trivialities; and
4. Lack of an alternative.
As regards the first, distortion and misrepresentation of fact;
Examine the fourth of and fifth paragraphs of this diatribe. They are peppered with obfuscatory phrases like “widely believed”, “seemed to think” and “considered the action inappropriate”. President Manuel Zelaya was exiled to Costa Rica on June 28, 2009.
Zelaya belongs to the Liberal Party. His opponent, Lobo Sosa belongs to the National Party, and led in the polls prior to the election. Controversy erupted when the president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Aristides Mejia, also a member of the Liberal Party declared Zelaya “the clear winner”.
